LRI seeks research that advances the tools and strategies needed to interrupt the transmission of the bacterium (M. leprae) causing leprosy. This includes the development and evaluation of next-generation prophylaxis, advanced diagnostic tools, tracking and understanding transmission dynamics (including environmental factors and reservoirs), genomic surveillance and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in leprosy.
